Biography:

Fr. Abraham Azmy has been serving our Church in Connecticut since his ordination as a priest for the altar of Virgin Mary and Archangel Michael Coptic Orthodox Church of Connecticut, USA, by the holy hands of H.H. Pope Shenouda III in Cairo, Egypt on June 18, 2000. He was born and raised in the diocese of El-Bohaira, Egypt, under the bishopric of H.E. Metropolitan Bakhomios, then graduated from Cairo University Kasr Al-Aini Medical College in 1986. During his university years, he was serving Sunday School Children at St. Mary church of El-Faggala, Cairo, Egypt. Fr. Abraham is married to Dr. Amany Kiryakos, his classmate, and is the father of 3 lovely girls, Veronica, Monica and Demiana. Fr. Abraham and Dr. Amany had immigrated to the USA in 1991 and he acquired his medical license in the US in 1995. He finished his medical residency in Internal Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania then from the University of Massachusetts. He practiced medicine in Pennsylvania till his ordination in 2000.

Fr. Abraham is the author of some few liturgical books published in both Egypt and the USA. He loves dealing and spending time with the children of Sunday School for being a former servant for the children all his life before ordination. This is reflected by publishing his two books \\\"The Holy Liturgy of St. Basil in Pictures\\\" and \\\"The Coptic Synaxarium in Pictures for children\\\". H.E. Metropolitan Bakhomious has elevated Fr. Abraham to Hegumen on 7-4-2012. On Nov 23, 2012 H.H. Pope Tawadros II has appointed Fr. Abraham Azmy to be the Director of Database Operation Office of H.H. and the Director of the International Media Relations in the U.S.A.
